Phishers typically include alarming or enticing (yet false) statements in their emails to prompt immediate reactions. They often request sensitive information like usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, passport details, photographs, and birthdates. To avoid falling victim to phishing, do not click on links in suspicious emails, messages, or chats. Instead, call the company directly or access their website by typing the URL in your browser. Always provide sensitive information only through secure websites or by phone. Additional consumer advice can be found at http://antiphishing.org/consumer_recs.html.
